WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Senate on Tuesday endorsed a March 31, 2008, target date for withdrawing American combat troops from Iraq, prompting the White House to threaten a veto and moving Congress a step closer to a showdown with President George W. Bush over the war.

Global TB epidemic levelling off: New report
22 March 2007: The worldwide tuberculosis (TB) epidemic has levelled off for the first time since it was declared a public health emergency in 1993. The Global Tuberculosis Control Report released today by WHO says that the TB incidence rate peaked in 2004 and then held steady in 2005. But extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB), HIV/AIDS and other obstacles are still hindering progress in controlling the epidemic.
