細胞移植で脳梗塞防ぐ

　骨髄幹細胞の移植で脳梗塞が防げることを、昭和大の大滝博和助教らがマウスの実験で示した。脳の血流を一時的に止めると酸素や栄養が不足し、神経細胞が死んで脳梗塞になる。ところが、脳の海馬という部分に人の骨髄幹細胞を移植したら脳梗塞にならず、２週間ほどで回復した。移植で炎症にかかわる遺伝子の働きが抑えられ、神経細胞が死ぬのが抑制されていた。移植した肝細胞が分泌する物質の効果とみられた。（米科学アカデミー紀要）（朝日新聞2008年９月19日付13版27面「科学」）
